Spring is short in Las Vegas, so it is best to take advantage of it while you can. It is one time of year in Vegas that it is not too hot to be outside for extended periods of time without sitting by a pool.
There are some great activities to do in Las Vegas in the spring that are out of doors and off the strip. It is your chance to breathe some relatively fresh outdoor air before getting into the casinos.
If you are a bit stressed out by your wins or losses in the casinos, then a visit to the hot springs near Lake Mead should relieve your tension and give you a bit of exercise to boot. The geothermal activity heats the water underground, and therefore there are several hot springs around the Las Vegas area. There is a group of hot springs near Lake Mead that are administered by the National Park Service. You can hike to them on foot, then soak in them to get rid of any stress, aches, or pains that have been bothering you. For more information, call the Lake Mead Visitor Center 702-293-8990.
On the other end of the spectrum, you can gain some aches and pains from horseback riding at Red Spring in Red Rock Canyon. You can go with a group and a guide from Cowboy Trail Rides, and don’t worry if you are not the best horseback rider around, because the horses are well trained, and the guide is experienced. You can see the beauty of the plants and wildlife of the area, on a 90 minute ride to Calico Basin. For $99, you can get a bit of back country in you before you head back to gambling and eating.
